MORE ON MORE

MORE founders Angela Casullo + Camille Borody share some unfiltered T on how the collective was conceptualized, how they met, and what’s next for MORE.

We’re in Toronto in 2021, the pandemic is *slighty* fading into the background of the news for a minute and a glimmer of what’s next? concerts, indoor dining, and a hint of being able to travel was making its way back into conversations. And yet, we still felt miles away from one another. For those of us lucky enough to work from home, collaborating felt a bit disjointed over Zoom and for creatives, brainstorm sessions lost their lustre. It was at this point that MORE was born.

We knew that we wanted a space we could make real and meaningful connections, new friends! Not to mention networking opportunities that felt relevant to the changing landscape of business in “the new normal”.

How did you guys meet?

We actually grew up together, just ten mins apart and have been friends now for 20+ years. It’s funny because when we were younger people would tease that we share a brain – but honestly in the sense of what we want from a community and creatively we kind of do. That’s why we’ve always worked so well together.

When did you first know you could work together, does friendship ever clash with work?

We know the common sentiment is not to work with friends, but when you start working with anyone long enough you’re going to develop a relationship with them. We first worked together back in 2017 doing the marketing for a group of popular Toronto restaurants. We got to direct photoshoots, create props and even open new store locations together which was a lot of fun. Thanks to the success of those businesses we had the opportunity to join in small business roundtable discussions, speak on panels and have our joint work shared across North America. After that experience, we were confident that we could create something special on our own that we could share with other entrepreneurial folks. The fact that we can work well together is a testament to why MORE works, making friends and networking go together pretty well in our opinion.

Okay so even though MORE has just begun, what can people expect next?

As we open up MORE we’re excited to see where the community takes it. The nature of a collective is that it’s always evolving to suit the needs of the individuals who are shaping it. We’re excited to provide this platform to collaborate, celebrate and share what our members are working on. MORE is a meeting place for creatives to share in some of the best parts of living in the city – conversations, inspiration, long park days and the energy of meeting new people.
