Let’s Chat: 5 Questions to Spark Your Next Best Conversation.

Although 2022 has started with what feels like a crazy global tailspin to cap off a not-so-post-pandemic, conversations are somehow becoming more difficult even though there’s so much going on. With news media fatigue and rising anxieties, we’re looking towards softer but still meaningful discussions. Below are five of our favourite questions and convo starters that you can bookmark for your next party, hot date, or family gathering.

  1. I wish I was asked more often about…

With all of our events, we like to facilitate discussion that acts as both an ice breaker and a way to make deeper more meaningful connections with other MORE members and contributors. This was an easy one to start with at our recent Wine’N’Grind Picnic in September to allow everyone to get to know each other without reverting to the well-practiced canned statement we all have about what we do for a living.

  1. Do you have a meaningful problem that needs solving?

This question is one that we borrowed from the amazing author and biologist Merlin Sheldrake. He recalls reading it on the open call sheet for a clinical study into the effects of LSD on the problem-solving abilities of scientists. Nonetheless, we think it’s a great question. It may be an opportunity for your friend, coworker, family member, etc. to vocalize something they’ve been thinking about but wouldn’t typically share. It’s an invitation for collective thought and problem solving (big or small).

  1. What’s something you feel you’re missing and haven’t found yet?

Certainly, this question is a bit deeper but if you would like to contextualize it try adding “within [insert city, career, music, etc.]” for your given audience. This question asks for vulnerability and can also be a great personal journal prompt.

  1. Who is the first person you remember making you laugh?

We discussed this question at our Halloween Retro Movie and Mixer and the responses were sentimental, hilarious, and a great way to get to know about the important people in one another’s lives.

5. What’s a creator (any medium) that you love right now?

We will never stop asking this question! It’s fun to be able to chat about what we’re interested in, learn about new and diverse creators as well as an opportunity to share the love – hot tip: Try keeping responses limited to local creators or switch it up to international creators.

What’s the vibe?

Unpacking the new ‘vibe-shift’. Apparently, we are on the cusp of a new vibe shift – a term coined by Sean…
